Spirit Week - Sports or Team Day

Day 42 of Distance Learning Kindergarten

Worship/Bible:

• Plan to join the Week of Prayer Meeting on Zoom at 8:30am if possible. If this is something you are not able to do, I would be happy to find an alternate Bible activity.

Math:

• Chapter 11 Test​- Only read directions to your child without prompting.

• *Please Note* We will not get to the lessons in Chapter 12, but you are welcome to complete those in your own time with your child if you’d like.

• HappyNumbers or Mobymax​- 15 minutes

Literacy:

• Book Activity​- Watch Mrs. A read:​Beatrice’s Goat

• Writing​- Story Element Worksheet - After listening to the story for today, draw pictures or write a few words for each box. (Characters, Setting, Problem, Favorite Part)

• CVC Reading​- 5-10 minutes

• Sight Words​- Sight word racers Lesson 9. Record on Tuesday spot.

• Raz-Kids​- 15 minutes.

Science:

• More about extreme weather - Today, let’s learn about Earthquakes

• Mystery Science Video: ​How do Earthquakes happen?

• Make a tower/building out of blocks, legos, cans, etc. Build on something you can shake like a table or a cookie sheet. When finished building, cause an earthquake by shaking the table or pan to see how your structure holds up. Try other materials or designs to see if you can improve your structure.

Spirit Week - Wacky Tacky Day

Day 43 of Distance Learning Kindergarten

Worship/Bible:

• Join Zoom Week of Prayer Meeting at 8:30am.

Math:

• Addition Facts Around The Room​- Print (make black and white if you’d like) and cut out the facts and hide them around your house. Your child then goes around to look for each fact, record and solve it.

• HappyNumbers or Mobymax​- 15 minutes

Literacy:

• Book Activity​- Listen to Mrs. A read: ​Catch that Goat!: A Market Day in Nigeria

• Writing​- Cut out one of the goat pictures from the attachment. Color the picture and glue it onto some writing paper. Write 1 sentence to match the picture you picked.

• Sight Words​- Sight word racers Lesson 8. Record on Wednesday spot.

• Reading Comprehension​- Read “What’s wrong with max?” (Print from attachment) Fill out comprehension questions after reading the story a few times. Your child can also color their book if they’d like to.

• Raz-kids:​15 minutes

Science:

• Today, let’s learn about Floods

• Watch SciShow Kids Video: ​Why Do Floods Happen?

• Build a house out of sand or dirt, then pour water on or nearby to make a flood happen! Can you get creative and make some barriers to protect your house from the flood?

Spirit Week - Blast from the Past Day

Day 44 of Distance Learning Kindergarten

Worship/Bible:

• Join Zoom Week of Prayer Meeting at 8:30am.

Math:

• Graphing Practice​- Choose and print one of the graphing worksheets (There are 3 to pick from). Analyse the data (count animals) and record the data (fill in the chart).

• HappyNumbers or Mobymax​- 15 minutes

Literacy:

• ​Book Activity ​- Watch Mrs. A read: ​The Three Billy Goats Gruff

• ​Writing ​- Puppets/story retelling - Print the page, then color pictures, cut out and glue onto popsicle sticks. Use your puppets to retell the story of the Three Billy Goats Gruff.

• ​Sight Words ​- Sight word racers Lesson 8. Record on the spot for Thursday.

• ​Reading Sentences​: I can read Sentences “en family”.

• ​RazKids:​15 Minutes

Science:

• Today, let’s talk about Tsunamis.

• Watch SciShow Kids Video: ​Tsunamis: The Biggest Waves

• Optional Activity: If you have a large container or small pool, add some “land” on one side and something to cause a wave on the other. Experiment with how to make the wave reach the “land” to cause a Tsunami.

Spirit Week - School Spirit Day (Blue and Green inspired)

Day 45 of Distance Learning Kindergarten (Wow - can you believe it?!)

Worship/Bible:

• Join Zoom Week of Prayer Meeting at 8:30am.

Academics (Optional):

• Math: Moby max or Happy Numbers (make sure goal of 45 minutes/week is met)

• Literacy: Raz-Kids 15 minutes

Art/Creative Time (some ideas):

• Directed Drawing: ​Art for Kids Hub (Youtube Channel)

• Goat Art Idea: ​Paper Plate Goat Craft

• Crayon Art Idea: ​DIY Spring Crayon Rubbings

• Get creative and do your own idea!

Field Trip:

• Together, through zoom we will watch a virtual field trip video presented by the Knowles Family (Watler’s Family)!! You won’t want to miss out!

END of YEAR information

• The first week of June I will still send you plans with some optional activities. You may choose to do all, or some, or none - It’s up to you and what works for your family.

• You do not need to check in with me daily during the month of June.

• There are some math assignments that we did not finish up - You may choose to have your child finish these, but it is not required.

• Stay tuned for events happening the second week in June like an ​end of year school celebration parade​and ​Kindergarten Graduation Ceremony.​

• I will also be letting you know when and how we will be returning items to school or getting items that were left at school.

• Summer - to insure your child is ready for 1st grade - please continue to read to them and have them read to you when able. It’s really easy to let our children lose their hard earned skills. Continue to practice sight words, CVC reading, and math facts as well. If you’re looking for anything specific to help your child, let me know!

• Online Programs - Take advantage while you have access!
